LIBRARY NEWS
Update from Ms. Baranets

September 18 – 24 is National Banned Books Week when book and writing communities across the country celebrate an individual’s right to read freely.

Book banning is when private individuals, governments, or organizations remove books from libraries or bookstores because they object to their content, ideas or themes.  The American Library Association has seen book challenges across the country more than double what they were last year.

The SPMS library is celebrating by putting up an interactive display of historically challenged middle school books and making them available to check out.  Students and teachers can write what they think of the book and put their thoughts up on the wall for their peers to see.

ASB STEP IT UP FUNDRAISER
9/29 THU – Fundraiser Ends

Thank you SPMS Families for supporting our Step It Up student fundraiser hosted by ASB. If your child is interested in participating, please assist with their online registration. We appreciate you sending emails to friends and family who might be willing to participate and support our programs. Rest assured that the fundraising program is only in effect during our fundraiser. It will send several automated reminders during our event so please alert family and friends that they are coming. ASB funds are used for assemblies, student activities, transportation, student recognition and dances. We really appreciate your support but know that if a student chooses not to participate they still benefit from the funds raised by the students as a whole. Thank you for your support!

* ASB and PTA do not fund the same events.  ASB funds are used for student activities and expenses that the students decide on.
