PTA GENERAL ASSOCIATION MEETING

THIS TUESDAY! All are welcome to join us. PTA Membership is not required to attend but encouraged! On the agenda: approving the PTA Wish Night budget for the 2022-23 school year; electing the 2023-24 Nominating Committee; and approving changing our association meeting day in the PTA Standing Rules.
Formation of Nominating Committee
The PTA will be electing a Nominating Committee at the general association meeting on November 1st. This committee is charged with coming up with a slate of candidates for next year’s Executive Board positions. That slate would ultimately be voted upon at the general association meeting held in March 2023. If you are interested in possibly serving on the Nominating Committee as a member or alternate, or if you are interested in serving on board next year, please email PTA Parliamentarian Brian Mahler.
REFLECTIONS ART SHOWCASE
10/31 – 11/11 IN ART/ROBOTICS BUILDING

IT’S HERE! SPMS Reflections art gallery is now open for student and staff to view. Come view the fabulous artwork your fellow students created. Read their artistic statements of what motivated them and view their awards from the contest.
Where: 1st floor hallway of the Art/Robotics Bldg
When: During school hours; lunch time when supervised by PTA
Exhibit will be available for viewing from 10/31 thru 11/11.

SPMS Mental Health Week was a big success thanks to all of the parent volunteers, supportive SPMS staff and administration, and all of the enthusiastic engagement from the students! A huge thank you to Sorrel Barnard, PTA VP of Programs, for organizing Mental Health Week and bringing this amazing event to our middle schoolers.
MHW by the numbers:
- 2400 raffle tickets
- 600 pieces of dark chocolate
- 400 Upstanders Power Hour tickets
- 400 sleep masks
- 340 Sweet Dreams tea bags
- 276 Wellness wishes
- 7 adorable service dogs
…and those are just the things we can count! It was so much fun to see the students interacting and engaging with the activities. We hope everyone had a great time and learned something new. Check out @spms_pta on Instagram for highlights of the week!

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT

SPMS student volunteers finished off Mental Health Week at the South Pas “Spooktacular” at Orange Grove Park on Friday, October 28. The students helped our younger community members make lollipop ghosts and shared messages of affirmation. Thank you to Beth Gee and Meghan Kiser for organizing the event!

Meet at the outside basketball courts @ 3:00pm Mon/Wed (no intramurals on Monday 10/31)
Competitive: Tryouts for Girls and Boys Basketball and Tennis are underway or scheduled.
